Irene N. Robinson, (nee Orfgen) left us to be with her 2 sons and husband on November 11, 2022. She had been a resident of Noblesville since she and her husband moved there in 1986. Bob, her husband worked for Indiana Bell and was transferred to Indianapolis. So, they sold the farm in Bunker Hill and moved to Noblesville and built their dream home - a log cabin.
Irene was born and raised in Boyceville, WI, the oldest of 4. She was enrolled at Stout University before she went to D.C. to work for the Department of the Navy. There she met her husband of 38 years on a blind date. Bob passed away in 1992. The Air Force (Bob worked in communications) allowed them to travel all over the world. From Germany to Hawaii finally retiring in Indiana. From this union came 4 children. Her sons Robbie and Randy preceded her. Her daughters Robin (Stephen) Gloss of Elgin, IL, and Raylene (Bruce) Frytz of Noblesville, IN, blessed her with 3 grandsons: Justin (Ange) Frytz, Matthew (Alex) Gloss, Michael (Amy) Gloss and 4 great grandchildren - Cooper, Milena, Cole and Edison.
When Irene and the family moved to Bunker Hill, Indiana, she realized that Girl Scouting didn't exist for her daughters. So, she established the first Girl Scout troop and watched the organization grow in the Bunker Hill area.
Irene spent 12 years working for the Hallmark store in downtown Cicero until it closed. As an avid collector herself she was right at home. She then became the Craft Coordinator for Michaels for the next 11 years. From weekly craft classes to demonstrations to summer camp programs she shared her love of crafting. Her creativity knew no bounds.
She loved to travel and was able to tell people she had visited 48 of the 50 states. Visiting to her meant not just driving thru but actually visiting. She could tell you where and why she was in each of those 48 states.
Graveside services are planned for December 3, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Santa Fe Cemetery located in Miami County, Indiana on the south side of State Road 218, just west of State Road 19, and about 5 miles east of US 31.
