Eldon Jay Hess (79) Passed away November 12, 2022 in Murray Utah. Eldon was born January 14, 1943 in Malad Idaho and married Kathy Lenois on December 2, 2017.
Eldon grew up in Malad Idaho, the third of five children. He attended Idaho State University in Pocatello Idaho where he studied auto mechanics. He married Rea Reavis and had two daughters; they were later divorced. He married and was sealed to Sharlene Reid, who brought to the family a son and a daughter whom he adopted and together they had two more sons. They later divorced. He then married and was sealed to Else Yelton who passed away in 2015 and finally he married and was sealed to Kathy Lenois who he spent his last days with.
He was a hard worker, employed at HAFB and often worked side jobs to provide for his family. He was in the Army, Navy, and Air Force reserves.
He loved to tinker around taking things apart and putting them back together again. "Just to figure out how they worked". He would say, "if you put it back together and have screws left over, start again and find out where they went". He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. Although he wasn't a master gardener, his gardening knowledge was often shared with all who asked. He enjoyed working in his yard and it showed through his beautiful flowers and plentiful garden. It was obvious to all passerby's that he loved Halloween by the display he created on his front yard complete with witch, graveyard and scary sounds. He loved a good joke and was always prepared with one or two for every visitor.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to his hospice team, Brandi, Ben, Pearson, and Doug, for their care and service and to Rebecca Malin for her love, care and service for the last 9 months of his life. He really appreciated her sense of humor and company.
He is survived by his wife Kathy and his children Richard (Melissa) Hess; Sue (Randy) Kuns; Karlene (Cory) Stratton; Dawn (Michael) Lewis; Jay (Julie) Hess; Scott (Jennifer) Hess; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with a 19th one coming March 2023 and his brothers Cleon; Daryl; and Steven (Mitzi)
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mildred; his sister Joyce; his sister in-law Millie; and his wife Else
Funeral services will be Thursday November 17, 2022 at 10am at the Stake Center, 5750 Nena Way, Murray. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Rd. West Jordan.
