Sally met Manuel E. "Joe" Turner in Tucson, AZ and married in Nogales, AZ on Sept. 3, 1949. Together they had three children, Manuel E. "Gene" Turner, Jr., Dorothy E. "Dottie" Turner, and Terrance "Terry" A. Turner. They moved across our great nation as the years progressed making homes in many small towns. Joe took her from the big city of Los Angeles to the Kiamichi Mountains of Oklahoma to the suburbs Philadelphia, and finally settling in Marshall, TX. She loved making a home and learning the area where they currently lived. Joe passed away in 1985. Several years later in September of1999, she married Wilburn "Woody" Wood in Porterville, CA. This blended the two families who had loved each other for many, many years. Woody passed away in 2009.
Sally was first and foremost a Mom. She raised her three children as they moved across the country following Joe's career. When her children were old enough, Sally began her medical assistant career at Marshall Memori al Hospital as a ward clerk. She later worked for Dr. Marvin K. Hall, and finally for Marshall Internal Medicine – Dr. Gullion, Dr. Jones, and Dr. Harris. She retired from MIMA to take care of her mother in her declining years. Always the caretaker, Sally watched over her friends and family and took care of them as needed. She attended Cypress Valley Bible Church until she was no longer independent.
Alzheimer's disease robbed Sally of many productive years. She had several wonderful caretakers who made her life a happy one. Sally is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Pollyanna Mahoney; brothers Bill Cheetham and David Cheetham; her husband Manuel E. "Joe" Turner, Sr., and husband Wilburn "Woody" Wood, and step-son Danny Wood.
