ROCHELLE — Geraldine Wheeler, 97, passed away peacefully at the Rochelle Rehab and Healthcare Center, in Rochelle.
Geraldine was born on March 6, 1925, to John and Edna (Jayne) Maddrill, in Thayer, Illinois. On Nov. 10, 1957, she married Louis M. Wheeler, in Rochelle.
Geraldine was very social. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. She was also very active at the Rochelle Senior Center where she was prom queen one year. She loved her flower garden and doing puzzle books.
Geraldine is survived by her son-in-law; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, on Dec. 21, 1992; two daughters, Carol Sue Huffstatler on Oct. 19, 1988 and Marjorie Ann Mammen on Feb. 24, 1991; two brothers and two sisters.
The visitation will be held 10 - 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. The burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery, in Rochelle.
