Earlene Moore McLain was born April 1, 1936 in Marlow, OK to Earl and Vivel (Sessums). She was a telephone operator in Oklahoma. She met Merle McLain when he was in the service, and they married on November 24, 1957. They were loving parents to two children, Tammy and Linda.
Earlene helped farm in Rural Keosauqua for 50 years before moving to town. She volunteered as a 4-H leader and creative arts leader. She enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, quilting and spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She was a member of Center Chapel Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Tammy (Jim) Closser of Milton, IA and Linda (Curt) Fountain of West Branch, IA, three granddaughters, Megan Dorothy, Lisa (John) Adam, and Kara Fountain, two great grandchildren, Carson and Raelynn, a brother, Keith (Beth) Moore of Copperas Cove, TX, sister-in-law Twyla Miller, brother-in laws Ernest (Joyce) McLain, Jerry (Sandy) McLain, Jim (Sheryl) McLain, David (Annette) McLain, and four step grandchildren.
Earlene was preceded in death by her husband, Merle, her parents, and two sisters, Patricia Thornton and Margret Ann Moore.
