Donald L. Pierson, age 72, of Oswego, IL died Friday, February 8, 2008 at his residence. Don was born January 7, 1936 in De Pue, IL the son of the late Carl Palmer and Mary M. (nee Broline) Pierson.
Don served his country honorably in the US Army from 1955 to 1959. Prior to his retirment in 1996 he was employed as a machinist with Caterpillar Co. in Aurora, IL. He was a longtime and devoted member of Faith (fka Redeemer) Lutheran Church in Aurora, IL.
He is survived by a sister, Dorris (John) Sweeney of FL; brother, Larry (Marie) Pierson of Henry, IL; in-laws, Del (Sara) Dahl of Urbana, IL; and devoted caregiver, Laura Kunkel of Oswego, IL.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda J. (nee Dahl) Pierson.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, IL. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 from 10:30 until at memorial service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Rob Douglas officiating at Faith Lutheran Church at 5 N. Root St. in Aurora, IL. Memorials may be directed to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
