Dave was the first child of Robert Long Hansen and Louise Adele McInnes, born in Bellingham, WA. In 1956 the family moved to California, settling in Reedley - southeast of Fresno. He graduated Reedley High in 1962 and Reedley College in 1964 with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He acquired an amateur radio license while in high school and that led to a 30+ year career in tele-communications, working mostly for Pacific Telephone, which had become SBC by the time he retired. He met Sandra Fredrickson while working in Hayward and they married Dec 1, 1974 at Hayward First United Methodist Church. Adam, their only son, was born Sep 19, 1979, while they lived in Fremont. They later lived in Salinas and spent 18 years in Pleasanton before retirement. After retirement they moved to a property with 400 peach trees in rural Tulare County, California, about 5 miles from the small town of Orange Cove - in Fresno County. Dave died unexpectedly at their home on Apr. 2, 2011. He was cremated and his remains scattered on Curtis Mountain, above his final home, on property owned by a neighbor.
