Darrell Ray Kelderman, 72, died at his assisted living facility in Lino Lakes, MN on Dec. 25. Mr. Kelderman, was born in Oskaloosa on May 25, 1943, to parents Tunis and Agnes (Swank) Kelderman, who had a farm near Eddyville. In June 1962, he married Bette Van Gorp, of Pella, and the couple moved to Ankeny, where Mr. Kelderman worked as a house builder. In 1971, they moved to the Saylor Township, where Mr. Kelderman continued his trade as a member of the Carpenters Local 106, and worked for several commercial building projects. Mr. Kelderman was a superintendent during the construction of the Henry Wallace Building in Des Moines and later he helped to complete worked on the restoration of the Terrace Hill Governor's Mansion. Mr. Kelderman eventually started his own company, Kelderman Carpentry. Later, the Keldermans moved back to Pella. Mrs. Kelderman now resides in the Westridge Nursing Home in Knoxville. Survivors to Mr. Kelderman include: his former wife; sons Eric, of Silver Spring, MD and Christopher, of Blaine, MN and his sisters Delores Besteman of Rudyard, MI and Eunice Grandia of Johnston, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Alfred. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Bethany Reformed Church, 720 N.E. 52nd Ave, Des Moines, Iowa. There is no interment – Mr. Kelderman donated his body to the University of Minnesota to be used for medical research.
