Alfred Reinhold Barnes quietly passed away in his Kentucky home Tuesday morning at the age of 82, surrounded by his family. Alfred fled war torn Germany (now part of Poland) and immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island at the age of 12. He loved the country of his birth and ancestry, but was especially grateful for the land of America and displayed the flag with pride. He fell in love with his wife Ella in high school and they recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Together they had 6 children, 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Alfred graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree. He had a full, vibrant life and was loved and adored by so many for his outgoing, authentic personality. He found his niche in the field of tractors and made a living as sales manager with various tractor companies. He was great with his hands, loved to tinker in his garage, fished when he could and loved a good fruit stand. What he will be most remembered for is his candid humor, infectious laugh and gift of entertaining others. Alfred was a man of faith and served in the LDS church in many capacities thoughout the years. His passion and fire for life was contagious and he had an indomitable will to live, even to his last breath. He will be greatly missed.
