Patricia Rhodes, 89, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on November 18, 2022, at Edencrest at Siena Hills Assisted Living in Ankeny, Iowa, with her family by her side.

Patricia "Pat" Louise Bartine was born November 1, 1933, to parents Charles Amos and Darlene (Burns) Bartine in Waterloo, Iowa. She attended school in Clemons, Iowa, and graduated in the Class of 1951.

On December 12, 1952, she married Norman "Nip" Rhodes. They spent most of their life in Marshalltown, Iowa, raising their family of four children, Beverly, Bradley, Rebecca, and Bartine. After Nip retired, they spent ten years in Calera, Alabama, before returning to Marshalltown.

Pat loved people; she never met a stranger. Her home was always open. She was quick to offer something to eat or drink; she loved to be generous and show hospitality. Friends and family were always made to feel welcome. Many hours were spent playing cards with friends. She enjoyed music, reading a good book, crossword puzzles, and nature. She could easily tell you the name of any wildflower or bird she saw. She always had a special place in her heart for young ones. She was a meticulous record keeper and loved keeping track of family history.

What brought great meaning to her life was her study of the Bible. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on March 30, 1957. Her worship of Jehovah God was a priority in her life and she loved sharing the Bible truths she had learned with others. She looked forward to seeing the day that God's will is done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9, 10) Right up until the end, her faith brought her strength and joy.

She is survived by her children, Beverly (Dwight) Ross, Bradley (Debra) Rhodes, Rebecca Springer, and Bartine Rhodes; her grandchildren: Scott (Kenisha) Ross, Angela (Scott) Baker, Nicholas (Rachel) Springer, Katherine Springer, Blake (Tasha) Rhodes and Ginger (Elliott) Cris; her great grandchildren: Kieran, Kennedi, Kayden and Landon; her brother Mike (Ruth Ann) Bartine; sister-in-law Mary Bartine and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Rhodes; her parents, and her siblings: Ardiss Shill, Barbara Boatwright, and Richard "Dick" Bartine.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the members of Suncrest Hospice and those at Edencrest for the love and compassion they showed to Pat and her family while caring for her.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 23048 590th Ave, Nevada, Iowa 50201 at 1:30pm.

Pat's obituary was lovingly written by her family.
