Florence Clendenny, 87, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday evening (11-17-22) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Florence was born March 10, 1935 near Pearl, a daughter of Dola Arthur and Zula Pearl Ottwell Wheeler. She married William "Bill" G. Clendenny on March 6, 1952 in Pittsfield and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2009.

Florence had been employed by Illini Community Hospital and also by several area nursing homes.

She enjoyed painting, quilting, reading Western novels and collecting buttons.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include six children, Gary (Janice) Clendenny of Pleasant Hill, Gail (Roger) Walston, Larry Clendenny, Merlin (Laura) Clendenny, Marilyn Baughman and Laura (Bill) Grimsley all of Pittsfield, sixteen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son-in-law, Randy Baughman, a granddaughter, Jennifer Clendenny, a great grandson, Cody Walston, sisters Ruth Wheeler, Edith Abbott, and Rose Clendenny and by brothers Paul, Carl and Lee Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (11-22-22) at 10:30 a.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Burial will follow at the Summit Grove Cemetery near Kampsville. Visitation will be held Monday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Summit Grove Cemetery.
