Ronnie LeRoy Franke
January 25, 1936 - November 19, 2022

RONNIE LEROY FRANKE, 86, of Belle Fourche, SD passed away November 19, 2022 peacefully at his home.

Ronnie was born January 25, 1936 in Lake Andes, SD to Faye Roosevelt and Ruby Pearl Franke. He grew up in Lake Andes and moved to Belle Fourche in the 1940's. Ronnie enlisted in the US Army in 1958. He was honorably discharged appx 1961.

He worked at Sly's Grocery store in Belle Fourche. There he met an attractive young lady that presented in the store frequently to get groceries. She would make several trips for her parents just to see Ronnie. They began talking and then dating. On August 25, 1963 he married the love of his life, Sharon Rae Mueller. Ronnie and Sharon made their home in Belle Fourche, SD. They had 2 children.

He dedicated his time to the US Postal Service. Ronnie worked for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier for 25 years. He retired in 1992. He never called into work, except one day and it ended up being a snow day and mail services were halted. He tells his family that day didn't count as a sick day. He also cut trees on the side and worked for Black Hills State University as a Custodian. He had a difficult time doing nothing with his retirement, so he devoted a lot of his time on small engine repairs.

He also enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling with his wife, conversation with friends and family, also known as coffee/social hour. He rarely missed any mornings.

His two children were his main focus. Keeping them safe, raising them to be respectful and honest. He was a wonderful father, husband, friend, brother, uncle and cousin. He would always tell you the truth and believed in honesty. No matter what age his children were, he wanted them to be successful and safe. He wanted his children to find happiness. This made his heart happy.

When his wife, Sharon passed on March 27, 2010 his life changed. He not only missed her but had to learn how to adjust to this change. Things started to change for him after this and his back pain limited him on certain activities but he always found a way to make things work.

Ronnie has great friends. He had friends that would stop in and converse with him, bring him apple pies, any kind of dessert he was happy with, crockpot food or just about anything. He made sure his friends knew what he received when they didn't. He liked to joke and tease his friends and they made sure to return the favor.

Ronnie also enjoyed one store in Rapid City that was basically his only shopping place, Harbor Freight. He would wait for his Christmas gift and Birthday gift as he knew they would be gift certificates to the store. He would then save them and head on down for a shopping day!! Always a grin on his face when he'd return with a sack of goods.

Ronnie was always working, even at 86 years old with a walker that had brakes and wheels he would trim his own grass, replace the wood on his deck and stain it. He was a worker, no matter how bad the pain was in his back, he would keep moving forward. He also passed this on to his children. If you want something, you will need to work for it. Laziness wasn't in his vocabulary. He will always be remembered as hard working.

If you stopped up at his shop, he would stop what he was doing and come visit with you. He loved having company over and socializing with anyone made his day. He enjoyed stopping downtown for a PBR and would play the machines.

Ronnie had a good life and he will be missed by many friends and family.

He is survived by his son and his fiancée; his daughter and her significant other; 3 grandchildren; a great grandson; and his dog, Rosco who was a big part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his, parents, Faye and Ruby Franke; wife, Sharon Franke, a brother, Armand Franke and sister, Sherry Cooper; his 2 dogs, Sydney and Pepper, who he loved dearly.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 26, at 1:00pm at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Interment will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. The funeral will be published for viewing at klinefuneralchapel.com live streaming site following the funeral.

Family would like to thank Dr. Berens/Staff and Dr. Vosler/Staff, the VA Medical Clinic and all medical staff that have worked with him and showed compassion throughout the years.
