LAFAYETTE - Services for Daniel C. Schexnayder, 57, will begin at 3 p.m. today at Delhomme North Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Leleux, pastor of Glorious Church Worship Center in New Iberia, officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will continue until the time of services today at the funeral home.

A native of Port Arthur, Texas, and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Schexnayder died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at his residence.Mr. Schexnayder was the son of the late Leonard B. Schexnayder and the former Dorothy Carrier. He and his wife, Rena, were therapeutic foster parents for Gulf Coast Teaching Family Services for 13 1/2 years and during that time they provided a home to more than 60 troubled teens.

Daniel was a professional musician and vocalist in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas for years. He was also a ham radio operator for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Rena C. Schexnayder of Lafayette; his mother, Dorothy S. Bertrand, and her husband, Herbert, of New Iberia; two sisters, Stephanie Schexnayder Leleux, and her husband, Kenneth, of New Iberia, and Jan Schexnayder Courville, and her husband, Timmy, of Lafayette; his brother, Brian Edward Schexnayder, and his wife, Sherri, of Plano, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schexnayder was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Pamela Ann Schexnayder.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth and Timmy Courville, Chris Savant, Troy Faul, Robby Hartman, Brady and Sean Bowen, and Mitch Daspit.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Schexnayder, Jonathon Bowen, and Frank and Johnny Solis.

Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.
