PATRICIA'S OBITUARY
Patricia Lou Weter Cutright Kerns passed away November 19, 2022 in the comfort of home in Cullman, Alabama due to cancer. She was born at home in Richmond Dale, Ohio on December 17, 1928. Married her high school sweetheart Bob Cutright on August 17, 1948. Worked many years at the Veterans Administration hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. After 19 years of marriage, in 1967 she endured the unexpected death of her husband in whom she loved dearly leaving her to raise their 2 high school age children.
Her surviving family include her children Mike (Brenda) Cutright of Statesboro, Georgia; Becky (Steve) Miller of Cullman, Alabama; step son Jerry (Linda) Kerns. Grandchildren Todd (Christina) Cutright of Chillicothe, Ohio; Courtney (David) Cutright Strackbein of Fredricksburg, Texas; Devin (Daniel) Cutright Forsythe of Maysville, Kentucky; Dr. Chad (Ashley) Miller of Atlanta, Georgia and 7 great grandchildren. Nephew Roger Weter of Richmond Dale, Ohio.
Her close cherished friendships are Carolyn Underwood of Cullman, Alabama and Kathy Taylor of Chillicothe, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Cutright and Whitey Kerns; parents, George T. and Marguetite Dickson Weter; brother, Howard T. Weter.
Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice of Decatur. Her care team nurse Tina, aid Kelsi, social worker Chris and pastor Eric were so compassionate and caring making her feel as she was their only patient. Tina Thigpen was the perfect match for Miss Pat! Who taught who?
Pat's Legacy
Pat was a strong-willed, courageous, extremely independent woman who withstood adversities in her life but never complained. She never considered herself special but those who knew who, knew otherwise.
In her 70's and 80's she traveled in her motorhome often to get from Point A to Point B so she would have her own bed, own kitchen own food.
Pat was a very unique individual who grew up during the depression creating a lifetime of frugality. She was a saver re-using any items that could prevent another purchase. No waste!
She preached importance of saving and investing. She who had so little for many years managed to save and invest by "watching the little money" as she always pointed out.
She was a master gardener saving seed year to year, canning and freezing what she grew. No commercial canned items in her pantry! Vegetable and fruit discards went to the compost. No waste!
Her passion for natural wellness using vitamins, herbs and nutritional foods was preached to all.
Preference for homeopathic medicine versus mainstream medicine caused many a heated discussion with her grandson who saves lives in the ICU as a critical care/pulmonary physician with "medicine through modern chemistry".
In conclusion, her legacy is this. if everyone followed her lead we could all live long healthy lives on "little money" and ha a fruitful life!
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the home of her daughter, Becky Miller. The family will have a graveside service on Monday, November 28th at 11:00 AM at Little Mound Cemetery in Richmond Dale, Ohio.
