Dorothy H. Baugher, 81, Michigan City, died at 4 p.m. Friday (Oct. 27, 2000) at Michigan City Health Care Center.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Root Funeral Home, Michigan City, with the Rev. William Fine officiating.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born July 1, 1919, in Indiana Harbor, Ind., to Philip M. and Alice C. Severin Baugher.

She is survived by three brothers, Morton E. (Barbara), Leo T. and William C. Baugher, all of Michigan City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis S., John David and Philip Donald Baugher; and one sister, Emma Jean Baugher.

She retired as a switchboard operator at The News-Dispatch in 1986 after 42 years of service. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and an avid crocheter and crafter, participating in craft shows around the area.
