She was born on April 10, 1943 at Queen of Peace Hospital in LeSueur County's city of New Prague. She spent her formative years in the nearby city of Montgomery, MN and attended primary and high school classes there. After graduating from Montgomery High School in 1961, she moved to Minneapolis to begin training as a Licensed Practical Nurse, gaining her clinical experience at the city's Swedish Hospital. Over the ensuing years she worked full-time at a number of other hospitals and health care facilities for more than 32 years.
In 1966. Dorothy and a nursing co-worker left Minneapolis and headed West, seeking both new vistas and new jobs. Ultimately, they arrived in San Diego, CA where they became residents and found new jobs at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, CA.
While living in San Diego, she met her husband M and married him in 1968 to begin a 54-year marriage that produced two sons, P & M. The family returned to Minnesota in 1972 and she continued working intermittently at various jobs including Minnesota hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities until her retirement in 2005.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers (Donald, Milton, George Jr.) as well as her parents, George and Emily Korbel (nee Honza) .
She is survived by her husband and her two sons.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am, Monday, Nov 21st at St. Joseph Catholic Community, 8701 36th Avenue North, New Hope, MN with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery, New Hope.
