Mary A. Mora, 89, a resident of Lordsburg, NM entered eternal rest Monday, November 14, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 18, 1933 in Lordsburg, NM to Ceferino Altuna and Maria Lopez Altuna.

Mary Mora was a unique and wonderful human being. Her life was guided by principles based on faith, love, family, and civic duty.

She was a wonderful loving Wife, Mother & role model to her entire family. Her greatest joy was watching accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her capacity for love was boundless and extended beyond family to friends and many of the youth who reached out to her at the high school for advice and consoling and fondly said Ms. Mora was their "Mom". In her home, any friend of the children who was around at mealtime got fed without question. Any who ran away from home could spend the night while she quietly called their mom to tell her he was fine. She always talked him into getting over his "mad" and going home next day. She greeted everyone with a warm smile.

Having been a first generation American born to a father who fled a dictatorship, her appreciation for being an American made her civic minded. She instilled this in her children along with the responsibility in caring about their community. She encouraged them to do their part in participating and voting.

Her tremendous faith made her a prayer warrior for family and friends as she always seemed to have a direct line to God in her prayers. Certainly, God greeted her with a smile and wrapped his arms around her whispering "Well done!", then passed her on to the many loved ones who joyfully awaited her arrival. Oh, what a celebration must have occurred! For us left behind, we celebrate her life, the love she so willingly gave everyone, the lessons taught of love, courage, faith, and doing the right thing for the right reason. Though we will miss her fiercely we will carry her in our hearts and find joy in knowing our prayers were answered that she went peacefully at home as she wanted and pain free. She will be honored & remembered, and forever loved.

She is survived by two sons, John Mora (Doreen) of Lordsburg; Anthony T. Mora (Veronica) of Lordsburg; two daughters, Mary Helen Bejarano (Augustine) of Tucson, AZ; Christine Lopez of El Paso, TX; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Cecilia Altuna of Seattle, WA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Gilbert C. Mora ('87); her son, Gilbert Mora Jr.; seven brothers, Eloy, Luis, Edward, Alfred, Art, Robert, and Ceferino Altuna; four sisters, Audelina Diaz, Stella Aldrich, Olivia Ramirez, and Irene Anaya.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 26th from 9-9:30am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the holy rosary to commence at 9:30am with Carlos Bejarano reciting. The funeral mass will follow at 10am with Father Jude Okonkwo officiating. Concluding service and interment will take place at Shakespeare cemetery. Pallbearers are Aaron Jacquez, Jason Gallegos, Jeremy Jacquez, Tommy Ray Lopez, Adrian Diaz, Justin Taylor, and Danny Zavaleta.
