Benjamin Guinn was born in Halifax County, Virginia about 1793. He was the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Polley) Guinn. Benjamin fought in the war of 1812.

He was married twice. He married his first wife, Barsheba McCoy November 11, 1817 in Cocke County, Tennessee. They were blessed with six children:
1) Alexander Guinn was born December 4, 1817 and died January 4, 1899. He married an Elizabeth A. (Unknown). She was born December 18, 1826. They are buried in Allen Cemetery, Gower, Buchanan County, Missouri.
2) Jasper Guinn Born about 1829 in Missouri.
3) Philander Guinn born about 1834 in Missouri.
4) Samuel Huston Guinn born August 22, 1836 in Missouri and died November 25, 1906. He is buried in Mount Carmel, Clinton County, Gower, Missouri.
5) Rufus Guinn was born about 1825 and died at the age of 52 years, 8 months and 17 days January 31, 1875. He is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Buchanan County,.Gower, Missouri.
6) James Guinn.

After the death of his first wife, Benjamin married Keziah Bledsoe. They were married December 3, 1836 in Plattsburg, Missouri.
They were the parents of the following children:
1) Elvin A. Guinn was born November 19, 1837 and died May 11, 1882. He married Lucy J. (Unknown). She was born December 16, 1838 and died March 12, 1882. They are both buried in Frazier Cemetery, Buchanan County, Missouri.
2) Alburtus Guinn was born about 1838 in Missouri.
3) Barsheba Guinn was born about 1840 in Missouri. She married Moses Henry.
3) William J. Guinn was born about 1842 in Missouri.
4) Marinda Guinn was born about 1844 in Missouri.
5) Nancy Ann Guinn was born in 1846. She married Simon P. Henry May 5, 1864 in Dekalb County, Missouri. He was born in 1843 and died in 1924. Nancy Ann died in 1918. They are buried in Frazier Cemetery, Buchanan County, Missouri.
6) Dyce Guinn was born about 1849 in Missouri.
7) Francis Marion Guinn was born November 28, 1856 in Platte Township, Buchanan County, Missouri. He married Adda Ellen "Addie" Kountz, she was born July 25, 1858 in Illinois and died March 4, 1933 in Atchison County, Kansas. Francis M. Guinn died in 1912 in Atchison County, Kansas.
