Harriet, the daughter of George Stephen Hickox and Frances E. 'Fannie' Harris, was a noted author, lecturer and teacher, and expert on child development. She married Frank Heller at Omaha, Nebraska, on November 29, 1893. They had two adopted daughters, Frances Marion Heller and Hope Helen Heller. The elder daughter, Marion, married Harriet's nephew, Claude Austin Hickox.
