Anne Margaret (Funk Hale) Romano, age 91, of Lexington, formerly of Springfield, died at 1:20am Thursday, October 27, 2022 at The Willows in Harrodsburg.

Born in Washington County on January 9, 1931, Anne graduated from Springfield High School and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Louisville. She was a registered nurse and worked at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Lebanon as well as the Washington County Health Department. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Lexington, Springfield Baptist Church, and Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, John William and Edith Lee Smith Funk, her brother, Joseph William Funk, her husband, Walter Thomas Hale, her son, Hansford Lee Hale II, two son-in-laws, David Scott and Gary Montgomery, and a special friend, Dr. Michael Romano.

She is survived by three children, a son, Sam (Kathy) Hale of Versailles, two daughters, Mindy Hale Scott (Marion Gildersleeve) of Lexington, and Susan Hale Montgomery of Danville; a daughter-in-law, Pam Hale of Bardstown; a sister-in-law, Joanne Bright of Stanford; and her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Bella. She is considered Mimi by her ten grandchildren, Michael Scott, Rachael Scott, Tracy (Jesse) Meiers, Maria Montgomery (Tod Lanter), Maxx Montgomery (Katie Hardin), PJ (Wesley) Hill, Jessica Hale, Jennifer (Jim) Wendelken, Amanda May, Kat (Brad) Lyons, and her eleven great-grandchildren, Murphie and Marley Meiers, Atley and Hank Hill, Cadence, Emma, Mia and Matthew Lyons, Sean and Cerys Wendelken, and Aidan May.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:45 pm, Saturday November 5, 2022 at Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Saturday November 5, 2022 at Cemetery Hill with Father David Ferrell officiating.
