Marie Blount, 90, passed from this life Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Edgewood Health and Rehab, Byram.
She was born December 28, 1931, in Attala County, a daughter of the late Mack Holdiness and Mary Elizabeth Burnham Holdiness.
Marie retired from the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery V.A. Medical Center in Jackson where she served as a cashier in the cafeteria for several years. Her quick wit and genuine love and concern for others endeared her to patients, their families and fellow employees. In her free time Marie enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and dancing- she was truly the "life of the party". Her family always came first and Marie was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. Times spent with them were her favorite.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sons, Donnie Boatner, and Ronnie Boatner; and grandchildren, Charles Boatner, and Clyde Boatner.
Survivors include daughter, Debra Counce; son Randle Boatner and wife Sandy; sisters, Mary Pittman, Dotsy Thomas, and Jewel Johnson; grandchildren, Hubo Boatner, Ashley Dasilva, Angela Boatner, Randy Pauley, Amy Caudill, Bob Boatner, Kim McGarity, and Anna Cook; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am with interment in Crossroads Cemetery in Pelahatchie.
