Ruth Kathleen Caldwell, 78

CHURCH HILL - Ruth Kathleen Larkin Caldwell, 78, of Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday (October 1, 2006) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital following an extended illness.

Mrs. Caldwell was born on August 14, 1928 in Kingsport and moved to Carters Valley in 1930 where she resided the remainder of her life. She attended Grange Hall School and graduated in April 1943. She worked in various stores in Kingsport and Carters Valley, including S.H. Kress, Larkin Grocery and Frazier's Market, then was a homemaker for many years.

She was loving, devoted wife, sister and aunt, who "mothered" her nieces and nephews. Shse loved to garden and cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Caldwell, her parents, Benjamin and Lydia Larkin, brothers, Clyde T. and Paul D. Larkin, nephews, Gary and C. E. Larkin.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and J. C. Mellons, Church Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Luetta Larkin, Tulare, CA; nieces and nephews, Sherry Davis, Jimmy Larkin, Ben Larkin, Judy Messick, Bob Larkin, Bill Larkin, Curtis Larkin, John Larkin, David Larkin, Sandra Bishop, Teresa Coleman, Larry Mellons and a special niece, Tina Mellons; several great nieces, great nephews and great great nephews.

A special thanks to Dr. Katrina Erickson, Dr. Douglas Rose and Dr. Sherry Robbins.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh and the Rev. Alvin Skelton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Smith, John Carter, Roger Carpenter, Jimmy Larkin, Lowell Anderson, Herman Lawson, Daniel Parton, Cody Mellons.

Honorary bearers are Larry Coleman, Dillard Morelock, J. C. Mellons and Ed Mellons.
