Connie was born on November 27, 1961, in Flint, MI to the late Jerry Wayne Abernathy and Beverly Jean (Thomas) Abernathy.
Connie moved to Brandywine, MD from Florida in 1987. She then moved to St. Mary's County in 1997. She was employed by the United States Postal Services for over 25 years as a U.S. Postal Clerk. Connie married her husband, William Joseph Clark, on October 25, 2006, in Jamaica, and were married for 11 wonderful years until his passing in October 2017. She raised two beautiful daughters that she adored. She got her game husbandry license so that she could raise pheasant, turkey, and quail for the state of Maryland for 10 years. She was proud of her Native American Heritage. She loved to attend Indian Pow Wows with her family. She loved spending time on the beaches in Florida where she lived for twelve years. She loved baking bread, cinnamon rolls, making Christmas cookies, and homemade chili to share with her family and friends. She loved spending time with her daughters, and grandchildren and playing with her cat Boogie.
She is survived by her daughters Morgan Lynn Hepp (Timothy) of Mechanicsville, MD and Jessica Layne Burling (Steven) of LeMoore, CA, her grandchildren Jakob Allan Burling and Olivia Hope Summers; her sister, Brenda Jean Abernathy of Waldorf, MD; her niece, Brieannon Gilbert, her great niece Naomi Gilbert and her nephew Benjamin Gilbert.
The family will have a Graveside Service on November 15, 2022, at 1:45 pm, with Rev. Joe Orlando as the celebrant at the MD Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham at 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
