UTAH RESIDENT SINCE 1854 DIES AT HOME IN PRICE
Oswald F. Barlow, Old Price Resident, Drove Stage Coach to Vernal in Early Nineties
Oswald F. Barlow, 71 years of ago age, died at his home in in this city Tuesday, from heart trouble. Funeral services will be held at the L.D.S. tabernacle in Price, tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
Mr. Barlow was born at Salt Lake City, August 11, 1854, the son of Oswald F. Barlow Sr. and Catherine Nightengale Barlow. He went with his parents the fall of 1865(?) to set the Dixie country in Southern Utah, where he helped raise cotton. He attended high school there as occasion would permit. On March 2, 1877, he married Dorothy Heath. Mr. Barlow was present when the spike was driven at Deseret, just east of Green River, when the track of the Denver and Bio Grande united fron Grand Juction to Ogden the last of March 1883. In the fall of that year he moved his family to Huntington, Emery county, and from there to Price in 1889, residing here since that time. He drove the stage from Price to Vernal for about 10 years. He followed farminy and coal hauling for many years and was known as a useful citizen.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Barlow and the following children, Mrs. Henrietta Gentry, Jesse Barlow, Herbert Barlow, all of Price. Mrs. Dorothy S. 0wen of Tuba City, Arizona and Heber J. Barlow of Ship Rock, New Mexico. Two children preceded him in death.
