He graduated from El Dorado high School, class of 1941. Donald proudly served in the United States Navy and throughout his time in the service he received 2 bronze stars with a Philippine Liberation Medal, as well as a Victory Medal. Donald later attended Butler County Community College after getting out of the Navy. Donald married the love of his life, Helen Marley, on September 28, 1946 at First Christian Church in El Dorado, Kansas and shared 71 loving years together before her passing in 2018. Donald was on office personnel manager of Houston Contracting Company, which later developed into SEDCO Inc., and dedicated countless years with them before "retiring" at the age of 62.
