Boyd "Bud" Goffnett, age 86 of Shepherd, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Prestige Centre in Mt. Pleasant.
Services for Bud will be Wednesday, October 3 at 11am at the Shepherd United Methodist Church with Jean Thrush officiating. There will be Visitation on Tuesday, October 2 from 2 to 8pm at Berry Funeral Home.
Bud was born on July 26, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant to Olive (Berryhill) and Fred Goffnett and was one of seven children.
He attended Shepherd High School graduating in 1950 before joining the Air Force. Bud was trained as a tractor mechanic and specialized in diesel pumps. He worked in St. Louis over 60 years for John Deere dealers Don Sharkey, Paul Latham, and the Bader Brothers, and was well known in the farming community.
Bud and Carol (Miller) formerly of Leaton were together for 63 years and had four children; Robin (Byron) Bixler of Riverdale, Stephen (Linda) Goffnett of Mt. Pleasant, Matthew Goffnett of Shepherd, and Mark (Lean) Goffnett of Shepherd. He is also survived by two sisters and a younger brother, Jean Fish of St. Louis, Marie Price of Shepherd, and Jake (Elizabeth) Goffnet of Shepherd; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren all in the area.
Preceding Bud were his parents, older brother Ivan Goffnett, and sisters Frieda Conner and Margie Tabor. Memorials on Bud's behalf can be made to Great Lakes Hospice.
