Mrs. Bogatay was born March 29, 1916 at Franklin the daughter of Peter and Anna Sadovy. Mary was a homemaker who lived most of her life in Franklin. She was raised in Franklin, attended Franklin Grade School, and graduated from Arma High School. Mary married Willie J. Bogatay on September 7, 1937 at Lamar, Missouri. Mr. Bogatay preceded her in death April 12, 1995. Mary was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and a member of the S.N.P.J. Lodge #225 at Arma. Survivors include three daughters, Eunice Sutton of Webb City, Missouri, Carol Harryman and her husband Gary of Arma, and Barbara Hartsell and her husband Richard of Lenexa, one son, William P. Bogatay and his wife Catherine of Dallas, Texas, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Benedict and Helen Smith and one brother, Nick Sadovy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with Robert Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Beulah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Bedene Chapel where friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday. The family will be at the home of Carol Harryman, 612 E. South Street, Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
