Mrs. John J. Elliott
Dies at Hospital Here
Mrs. Jane Elliott, 75, wife of John J. Elliott of Route 4, died Sunday at 6:30 a.m. in Newton Memorial Hospital where she had been critically ill for several days. She had been a resident of Cowley County for 62 years.
She was born Oct. 18, 1877, in St. Louis County, Mo., the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Kowing. She came to Cowley County with them when 14 and had since resided here. She was married to John J. Elliott on August 6, 1896.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Theodore of Winfield, Frank and George of Fairfax, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Rose McConnell of Norwalk, Calif., and Mrs. John Ehmke of Canon City, Colo., seven brothers, Charles F. and Fred H. Kowing of Winfield; Will Kowing of Downey, Calif., John Kowing of Buffalo, S.D., Frank Kowing of Madison, Wis., Ed Kowing of Seattle, Wash., and Ben Kowing of Lawrence; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and over 50 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Morris Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldgidge L. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
