Dies Tuesday


Fred C. Dodson, 69 year old resident of the Plainview community, near Delhi, died early Tuesday morning following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Dodson, brother of Dewey Dodson of Sayre, operated the Plainview grocery.

Funeral services are incomplete but probably will be held Friday at the Sayre First Christian church with arrangements by the Moore Funeral home.

Fred C. Dodson, operator of Plainview store south of Delhi, died at his home Tuesday after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Dodson came to Western Oklahoma in 1900 and settled in the Dempsey community and lived there until 1926 when he moved to the Plainview community to operate the store there.

He was born Feb. 8, 1885(sic) at Mooresburg, Tennessee.

On March 11, 1907 he was married to Lona Bell Dillingham of Blair.

He was a member of the First Christian church and the Willow Masonic lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Loma Bell Dodson of the home address; a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Davis of Ashland, Wisconsin; a grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Guy Davis of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers Clyde Dodson of Littlefield, Texas, and Dewey Dodson of Sayre.

His father, mother, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Pall bearers are John Grubbs, Grady Kelley, Howard Griffin, Eddie Faulkner, Ike Haygood, Reece Leaman.

Funeral will be held Friday, December 3 a(sic) 2:30 p.m. at the Sayre First Christian church with Rev. Marvin Nelson, Rev. Fred Jordan and Rev. Leonard Cronin officiating.

Interment will be in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery. Masonic services will be held at graveside.

Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
