The 1870 Center TS, Dade County, MO Census lists Amzi Long, 36, and wife Paulina, 31, with children: Dora, 10; Claude, 8; Edmond J, 6 and William, 2. Martha Scott, 30, and her daughter Nancy, 12, listed as Black, also live with the family. Martha is their domestic servant. "Amzi" owns $1,660 in real estate and $550 in personal property.

In the 1880 Liberty, San Joaquin County, California Census Michael A. D. Long, 44, and wife Paulina, 41, have children Dora, 19; Claude M, 17; Edmond M, 16; Charles M, 11; William P, 11; Narcissa B, 8; and Annalyza, 6. Michael is a farmer.

Long, a resident of San Joaquin County since 1874, and for years a well known bench hand and mill worker of Stockton, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M.J. Gardner of Robert's Island, at the age of 84 years. Mr. Long retired from active life several years ago. He enjoyed a wide acquaintance and was universally esteemed. Left to mourn his death are five sons, all well known in Stockton, Claude M, EM, Charles M, and WB Long, Nonnie B Long of San Fransisco, and daughter Mrs. MJ Gardner. He was a native of Missouri.
