Jerry Usin Thompson Sr., age 83 of LaSalle, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at his home under hospice care.

Born June 22, 1939, in Monroe. He was the son of the late Earl and Viola Thompson. Jerry graduated from Monroe High School in 1957. He later served his country in the United States Air Force.

Jerry made a living working at the General Motors Plant in Toledo. He was a lineman for over 34 years, before retiring in 1990. Jerry met and married the love of his life, Philyce Remaklus on December 8, 1958. They would go on to raise a family of six children and spent over 63 wonderful years together. Sadly, Philyce passed away August of 2022.

Jerry was also known to everyone around town as Mr. T. He was a former long-time member of the LaSalle Presbyterian Church. He also volunteered his time in many ways like craving pumpkins. In his free time, he loved to go fishing and in his younger years, playing horseshoes.

To cherish his memory, Jerry leaves his three children: Jerry U. (Kay Uran) Thompson, Jr., Kimberley A.(Charlie) Qassis, and Sherry L. (the late Dan) Baumgartner; eight grandchildren: Joe (Brandy) Thompson, Jalyna Hale, Jay (BethAnne) Thompson, Amanda (Jonathon Thorpe) Baumgartner, Randy (Corinne) Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Brooke Qassis, and Aaron Qassis; and 14 great grandchildren: Blake, Aubrey, Joshua, Alma, Elouise, Mason, Jaxon, Jordan, Elevyn, Maddy, Adam, Bella, Taylor, and Liam.

Along with his parents and son in law, Jerry is also preceded in death his wife: Philyce Thompson; three sons: Richard, Steven L., and Randall P. Thompson; siblings: Roy Thompson, Leon "Sparkey" Thompson, Frank Thompson, Delores Baltrip, Dorothy Miracle, Shirley Hartle, and Gladys Lymond.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 12 noon. Officiating is Rev. Harold Rains. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park.
