Jerry was born on July 15th, 1943, in Knoxville, Iowa to Wilmer and Susie Blomgren. Jerry grew up with his five siblings – Junior, Mary Sue, Sharon, Sherry and Judy. Jerry also spent a portion of his childhood with his Aunt Mabel and Uncle Loren at their rural Albia farm. This is where Jerry first learned how to take apart a lawnmower and put it back together at the early age of 5.

Jerry graduated from Lovilia High School in 1962 and shortly after met his wife, Correne. They married on September 18th, 1965. Jerry joined the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1965 until 1967, as a Pole Lineman. He later attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa studying electronics. Jerry was employed by Caterpillar, Monroe Plastics, Chamberlain and Hormel before retiring as the Maintenance Supervisor at Excel Meat Solutions.

Jerry enjoyed many interests but was known for his handiness and willingness to help others with a variety of projects. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends; family gatherings, reunions and holidays were events that Jerry cherished dearly. Watching his favorite Western movies while enjoying popcorn and a Pepsi was a favorite pastime. Jerry had a keen knack for gardening and fixing things. He was also quite well known for his love of music, specifically Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, along with his dancing abilities. Jerry's Grand Dogs, Waylon and Izzy B brought him great comfort and joy, including outdoor strolls, playing fetch and sneaking table food.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Susie; Stepmother, Edith Blomgren, his ex-wife Correne; Grandparents, Emanuel and Matilda Blomgren and William and Rose Waters; infant sister, Marilyn Blomgren; sisters Mary Sue Slay and Sharon Speck; brother Junior; nephew, Kevin Bunch; and brother-in-law Robert Clark.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Cindy (Matt) Trainum of Dows, Iowa; daughter Jennifer (Jamie) Wilson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; son Jerry (Darla) Blomgren of Swisher, Iowa. Grandchildren Jacob Gasperi of Ames, Iowa; Avery Wilson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Dallas (Clarissa) Portz of North Liberty; great granddaughter Sophia Portz of North Liberty; sister Sherry Clark of Centerville; sister; Judy (Bill) Jones of Albia; and many beloved nieces and nephews, along with his good friend and neighbor, Scott.
