Circuit Judge Carven D. Angel of Ocala, FL passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the age of 79. After battling cancer for many years, Carven died peacefully with his beloved wife, Gloria, and their children by his side.

Carven was born in Raleigh, NC on January 20, 1943, to John Paul and Lillian Angel. He was the older brother to Thomas Angel and the much beloved "son" to all of his North Carolina family. It was in Raleigh that he found his lifelong love for big family gatherings, storytelling, and farming. He grew up around tobacco farmers, and gardening became one of his greatest skills and delights. Everyone envied his skill in the garden and everyone benefited from its beauty and its huge harvest.

His family moved to FL when he was a little older, he graduated valedictorian from Ocala High School in 1961, and he got his law degree from the University of Florida. Carven was later elected to serve as both County Judge and Circuit Judge and he did this honorably for 37 years.

Carven was blessed to marry Gloria in 1998 and the two of them shared a love of dancing, cooking, reading together, and entertaining. Retired for the last 15 years, he had time for one more favorite thing--watching the sunset on the St. Johns River while swapping stories with loved ones and eating Carolina BBQ.

Carven was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother. He is survived by his wife Gloria; children Kearsten Angel, Ashley Raymond, Marjorie Neal, Michael Alsop, Francis Alsop, and Heather Lenemier; grandchildren Evie, Shannen and Macy Raymond, Morgan Myers, Lindsay Wheelock, Cassandra Satterfield, Emily Smith, Ben and Jonathan Alsop, Laura Roth, Autumn and Brianna Lenemier and ten great-grandchildren.

A service for Carven is planned for Saturday, October 29th at Central Christian Church, 3010 NE 14th Street, Ocala, FL. There is a visitation at 11:00 followed by a service at 12:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Present Truth Ministries, 1110 SE 8th Street, Ocala, FL 34471.
