He was born in Jamestown, NY on March 16, 1939 to the late Harold Parish Abbey and Beatrice Ackerman Abbey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Beverly Mills-Brown. Dale grew up in Randolph, NY and was a Professor of Geosciences at Monroe Community College before moving to Sanford, NC to escape the bitter cold and snow of upstate New York. He loved to play golf and would play every day he could. However, his favorite love was his wife and three girls. He was a really great dad.
He is survived by his wife Carol Braun Abbey; daughters Beth Heckman and husband Cyad of Brockport, NY, Patricia McRhoads and partner Bri McRhoads of Charlotte, NC, Rachel Abbey of Charlotte, NC; brother Earl Abbey of Pennsylvania; and grandchildren Cyad, Kain, Brody, Maximus and Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at the Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, NC on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
