Wife of Joseph Race Sr, married 1872

RACE, Melissa,wife of Joseph race Sr.,
died in her home in Hudson, Wy. March 6th , 1911,
age 60 years old.
She has been a resident of the west coming to Utah from the East in the early days making the trip by ox-team. Although she has lived in Hudson for only three years. She has been a resident of WY. for twenty years.
Mrs. Race was very strong and healthy all her life, never having been sick seriously until her last sickness which pronounce to be cancer of the stomach. She died a lingering illness of five weeks.
Besides her Husband, Mrs. Race leaves a family of seven children: Mrs. Harry Hilsinger, Mrs. J.K. Van Vett,
Mrs. Thos. Wandagard, Joseph W. JR., George, Asa and Olis all in Hudson, WY. and community.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 7th, at the Episcopal chapel in Hudson,WY. conducted by the Rev. Cyrus A. Wright, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Lander, WY. Suitable music was furnished by a good choir and the interment was in the Hudson Cemetery.

RACE, Melissa,wife of Joseph race Sr.,
