Homer Edwin Nesson, 87, was diagnosed in August of 2022 with an aggressive form of acute myeloid leukemia and passed away October 22, 2022, with family by his side.

He was born to George and Bertha (Varty) Nesson on January 11, 1935 in Douglas, ND and was raised on the family farm north of Douglas. He attended a rural Douglas grade school and three years at Dakota Lutheran Academy in Minot. His senior year, he attended Douglas High School and graduated from there in 1954. This is where he met his future wife, and love of his life, Alvie Christenson.

Homer married Alvie on July 7, 1956, in Douglas, ND where they had three children: Brenda, Larry, and Karla.

From there, he was employed with Bober Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He then moved back to the family farm after his father passed away and farmed and worked construction for Ward County Highway Department for several years.

Homer was also a township officer for over 40+ years. He was member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas, ND and on the church board for several years.

Farming and ranching was Homer's passion, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting as well but would put each of those activities on hold if he could complete a farming task since its completion was a reward that he cherished. That sense of accomplishment was one he simply could not find anywhere else but on the farm he loved his entire life yet family trumped all other responsibilities and commitments as he was always available for any family member no matter what their needs. He was still actively driving truck and operating equipment with his son, Larry, three weeks before the time of his passing. He also enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer.

Homer is survived by his wife, Alvie Nesson, his daughters Brenda (John) Novodvorsky & Karla (Dennis) Fannik, and his son Larry (Sharla) Nesson. Homer has several grandchildren: Sheri Lang, Shane (Jami) Novodvorsky, Shawna Schroeder, Casey (Samantha) Fannik, Kyla (Giles) Snyder, Karlee (Dan) Klindworth, & Cody (Tia) Nesson. Homer's great-grandchildren include Cheyenne & Tucker Lang, Tate & Miranda Novodvorsky, Avery & Easton Fannik, Gavin & Savannah Nesson and Jaxon & Colby Snyder; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Homer is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Thirza Muus and Vivian Weltikol, brothers: Filo and Dudley Nesson.
