Oldest child of Sgt Leander "Lee" Russell Connelly and first wife, Mary Josephine Moore Connelly.

Never married, no children.

1910 Federal Census shows her at age 37 living in HH of her stepmother with her half-siblings. Both of her parents are dead. Her sister, Jenny, is married and living in Charlotte NC where she dies in Dec 1910 after Census is finished. Emma's occupation is shown as a milliner. The family lived on East Front Street in downtown Statesville NC so it is presumed that she worked in a millinery shop or women's shop in the downtown area. She is the only wage earner shown in 1910 Census in the household. Their home is mortgage-free.

By 1920 Census, Emma had been dead for 7 years and her stepmother and Emma's half-siblings, Clarence V. and Catherine, are living in a rented house in Winston-Salem NC with Emma's half-sister, Mary Lois Connelly Park, and her family. Lula is not employed but she is shown as head of household. Neither Clarence age 19 nor Catherine age 16 are working or attending school. Andrew Park, husband of Mary Lois, is the only wage earner in the household and he is a bookkeeper at a factory. Lula may have sold the house in Statesville when Mary Lois married Andrew in 1916 and moved to Winston Salem for all of them to live together.

By 1930 Census, Lula had bought a home on Westover Dr in Old Town in Forsyth County NC and she lived there alone. Mary Lois and Andrew Park had bought a house at 177
Park Circle in Winston-Salem and Mary Lois was running a boarding house there in 1930 Census. They lived there with their two young children and with 5 lodgers. The house is still there.

By 1940 Census, Lula was living with her daughter, Catherine, and her husband and children in a rented house also on Park Circle in Winston-Salem. Mary Lois and Andrew Park still lived at 177 Park Circle in 1940 Census with their children and one lodger.
