Bonnie lived 96 independent years until she passed away peacefully on September 28, 2022 in Austin, TX. It was a comfort to her that she was able to visit with both of her grandsons before she passed.

Bonnie was the youngest of six children born to Robert W. Smith and Bertie Lee Hancock Smith on June 4, 1926 on the family farm in Oak Hill, Bastrop County, Texas. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Gibson, sisters Ruth Smith, Amy Patton and Gertrude Marsh, brothers Woodrow Smith and Kenneth Smith, son in law Jim Robison and nephews Paul and Ronald Marsh. Bonnie became reacquainted with Cliff Turner later in life. They became good friends, domino partners, attended Texas-OU watch parties and were Las Vegas travel companions until Cliffs death 10 years ago.

Bonnie attended Bastrop High High School. She was a good student, played on the tennis team and was a varsity cheerleader. After graduation Bonnie worked at The First National Bank of Bastrop. Bonnie, her sister Gertrude and their cousin Florence attended socials and dances at Camp Swift where Bonnie met her future husband Frank Gibson Jr. He was relocated to Anchorage, Alaska and then to Europe until the war ended. When Frank returned to the states he came back to Bastrop where he and Bonnie were married in her parents' home at 508 Pecan Street. They were married until Frank's death in 2000.

Bonnie and Frank spent many wonderful years traveling to their fish camp on Matagorda Bay they shared with their good friends Kathleen and Joe VanNess and Viv and Doc Weeter. They were also members of the Elks Lodge that later became the High Road and Saengerrunde Hall where they spent time socializing with their friends. They also enjoyed their trips to Port Aransas with their daughter and grandchildren. Bonnie became an avid bridge player and learned to play Mahjong.
