Alvah O. Myers died at 11 o'clock Tuesday night of valvular disease of the heart, resulting from rheumatism and dropsy, at his residence, No. 1423 South Fourteenth street. He was 81 years of age. He was a native of the state of New York, and served in the federal army during the late war in company C, Third Missouri cavalry, and was a member in good standing of Stephenson post No. 30, G. A. R. He had resided in this city about ten years, and leaves a widow and six children. Of the latter two are at home - a son and a daughter.
The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, at the mission chapel, corner of Fourteenth and Douglas streets. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 2-6-1890
