Deena Coleen Welch-Young, 63-year-old lifelong Thackerville, OK resident, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at her home while surrounded by her loving family. A graveside memorial service for Deena will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022, in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Thackerville with ???? officiating. Visitation will be held at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Services have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Marietta.

Deena was born November 20, 1958, in Gainesville, TX to James Donald and Ella Louise (Morgan) Welch. Over the years she worked a few different jobs that she liked, but she was very fond of a job she had with D & D Signs in Terre Haute, IN. There she was able to travel the US seeing many beautiful and interesting places while installing billboards. Deena showed more of her creative side through the many items she painted and sculpted over the years. She later found her true calling, one which would follow her throughout the rest of her life…. being a mom and "granma". Besides having a passion for her children and grandchildren, Deena also spent a lot of time outdoors. She loved working in her flower beds and in her vegetable gardens. The fruits of her labor in the garden produced the best homemade pickles in Love County. Deena also loved camping, hiking, kayaking, and mushroom hunting.

Deena was preceded in death by her mother Ella Louise Harper; a great-granddaughter, Ophelia Jo; two ex-spouses that she cared greatly for, Larry Young and Kent Ebert; a niece, Tachia Welch; and a nephew, David Wilson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her father, James Welch of Thackerville, Step-Father Earl Harper of Thackerville; her children, Jody Schoonover-Clark and husband Kevin of Mannsville, OK, Elijah Young and wife Lacey of Healdton, OK, Nikki Abernathy and her spouse of Ardmore, OK, and Kailee Keller and husband Chad of Ardmore; a brother, James Oce Welch and wife Marcia of Thackerville; sisters, Jeannie Bernice Welch of Thackerville, Betsy Lou Welch-Krebs and husband Nick of Thackerville, and LeeAnn Welch and Richard of Thackerville; an ex-spouse that she still greatly cared for, Robin Schoonover of Mannsville; grandchildren, Erik Clark and wife Hannah, Topher Clark and wife Valerie, Nick Nick, Jeremiah Stanley, River Bell, Isaac Evans, Izaiah Evans, Shaylee Young, Chase Young, Xavier Keller, and Harley-Paige Keller; and great-grandchildren, Elyjha Clark, Kaliko Clark, Rion Clark, Alekk Clark, Jagger Ned, and Kaylor Ned.

Honorary bearers are Joy Morgan, Eddie Teague, Gale Sanders, and all of her nieces and nephews.
