Mr. Herbert Lee Tolbert, 81, of 684 Imogene Church Road, Lowgap, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Tolbert was born April 17, 1926, in Surry County, to the late Hubert Lee and Mecie Hodges Tolbert. He retired from Bassett Furniture and was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger Tolbert and fiancée, Jan Hill, of Lowgap and Randy and Monika Tolbert of Boonville; five grandchildren, Brandon Lee Tolbert of Woodbridge, VA, Danielle Nicole Tolbert of Danville, VA, Elizabeth Anna Leigh Tolbert of Wilkesboro, and Chase Alexander Lee Tolbert and Jenna Morgan Tolbert, both of Boonville; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Myrtle O'Neal of Madison and Carol and the Rev. Ray Beck of Pilot Mountain; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd and Mary Ann Tolbert and Troy and Phyllis Tolbert, all of Mount Airy, Roy and Ruth Tolbert of Pilot Mountain, and Carl and Ruby Tolbert of Pinnacle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Anna Easter Tolbert; a grandson, James Adam Tolbert; and a brother, Ralph Tolbert. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Leonard Family Cemetery in Cana, VA. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Hutson, the Rev. Roland McCraw, and the Rev. Tom Slate. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Troy and Phyllis Tolbert, 1897 Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy.
