Miss Willie Gordon, daughter of County Commissioner T. J. Gordon, died at the home in Monroe at six thirty afternoon. The deceased was but thirteen years old and her death is a particularly sad event and a stunning blow to the parents and family. Death was caused by a combination of typhoid and tuberculosis, neither of which would have been sufficient separately to cause her death. Two years ago she accidently drew a cocklebur into her bronchial tubes, and afterwards contracted pneumonia. Later a chronic cough developed. Five weeks ago she contracted a light case of typhoid and then the tuberculosis took a desperate hold, and ultimately caused her death.

The child was an unusually bright and promising one and her death is a sad blow. Her long fight against so heavy odds was brave and nothing was left undone to save her life, but all in vain.

The funeral will be held at the home this afternoon at three o'clock and the interment will be here.
