Darlene Leona O'Donnell, age 84, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away on October 10, 2022. She was born on January 31, 1938, to the proud parents of Leon and Clara Lukaszewski. Beloved wife of 63 years to Michael O'Donnell. Loving mother to Dawn Baca, Shelley (Glenn) Stover, Colleen (Thomas) Docherty and Kevin (Janell) O'Donnell. Cherished grandmother to Erin (Travis) Cantrell, Courtlin Baca, Connor Baca, Brendan Fitzgerald, Hayden (Madelyn) Stover, Alison (Emily) Coleman, Liam Fitzgerald, Shannon Stover, Killian Fitzgerald, Riley Docherty and Declan O'Donnell. Great-grandmother to Landon Cantrell, Wyatt Cantrell, Marley Fitzgerald and Blakely Coleman. Dear sister to Patricia Spraker.
As a teacher, Darlene devoted her life to the education of children and sharing her love of reading. A volunteer at St. John Hospital for over 30 years, Darlene distributed books to children in the pediatric clinic to promote literacy.
Darlene will be missed by many friends and family members.
Darlene will lie in state on Friday October 14, 2022, beginning at 9:30 am until time of mass at 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 28301 Little Mack Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday October 12, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and again on Thursday October 13, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 7:00 pm.
Memorial donation in memory of Darlene are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Wounded Warriors.
