HAROLD CARLISLE, 79, of Jacksonville died Friday, March 17, 2006 at Rebsamen Medical Center. He was born Sept. 16, 1926 in Tull, Ark., to Luther and Mae Burrow Carlisle.

He was a jolly man always with a smile on his face. Mr. Carlisle was the owner and operator of Carlisle Department Store until he retired. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, on the building committee and on the Board of Trustees. Mr. Carlisle was a member of the Methodist Men and the Men's Sunday School Class which is taught by Walt Jones and was a 46-year member of the Jacksonville Lions Club.

Mr. Carlisle was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward Carlisle; and three sisters, Cecil Kirk, Willie Mae Scarbrough and Dulcie Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary F. Coppock Carlisle of Jacksonville; one son, Phillip Carlisle and his wife, Karen of Jacksonville and one precious granddaughter, Taylor Carlisle of Jacksonville who was the joy of his life. A loving family of nieces and nephews also survive him.
