Russ Alspaw
Russell Alspaw, 78, went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2022. Russ was born January 13, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas, son of Marion and Bertha Alspaw. Russ grew up in Council Grove, KS, where his love for the outdoors began.
He earned a degree in business administration from Emporia State while serving four years in the Kansas National Guard. On August 5, 1962, Russ married Maridel Burke in Council Grove, Kansas, with whom he created memories for 60 years.
He earned multiple awards throughout his 30-year career as a pharmaceutical sales rep. Russ faithfully served in the church as a teacher and elder, never missing an opportunity to share his faith. At the age of 40, Russ earned his black belt in Tae-kwon-do. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
Russ is survived by his wife Maridel, daughters Susan (Kevin) Warner and Christy (Brian) Newport, and grandchildren Weston (fiancé Laura Friesen) Warner, Allison (Nolan) Schimelpfenig, Whitney (Jordan) Kerr, Jeremy Newport, Bethany (Shane) Knauth, Rebecca Newport, sister Pam (Jim) Precht, sister-in-law Pat (Tom) Hansen, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of life will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, at 2 pm at Cornerstone Christian Church, 5531 E. 37th St., Wichita, Kansas. For those wishing to honor Russ's memory, a memorial has been established with Living Water Evangelical Free Church's building fund: PO BOX 471, Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
Russ will be laid to rest at Wilsey Kansas cemetery.
