Charles Roy Bosman of Middlebury, Connecticut, and Brissac le Haut, France, passed away after a long illness on May 16, 2022.

He was born in Waterbury on March 1, 1938, son of the late Edward Thier Bosman and Margaret (Fox) Bosman. Charles' beloved siblings, Vivian McCormick and Edward Bosman, preceded him in death. Charlie was married to the love of his life, Dr. Yolande (Guertin) Bosman, for 49 years. He also leaves three nieces, Margaret Bryson and family; Lise Bosman and her partner, Carl Benson; and Shelagh McCormick and her partner, Kevin Keegan, and two nephews, Jon Bosman and wife, Ana and family and Daven Bosman and wife, Catherine, and family, as well as a sister-in-law, Noella Guertin Poudrier, and brother-in-law, William McCormick.

Charles was a lifelong resident of Middlebury. He retired as plant manager from Curtis Products in Waterbury after 40 years. As an early teen, Charles was part of the newly formed Civil Defense team, trained at the New Haven School for Fire Fighting, where he worked with adults in the community. Charles was a long-time member of 4-H. For a great portion of his life, he raised and received awards for his exotic chickens, pigeons, and waterfowl. He was appointed Justice of the Peace for the Town of Middlebury. He served honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War. In addition, he was a Christian volunteer for two tours under the direction of Brigadier General Arron Davidi of the Israeli Defense Forces, assigned to repairing Chieftain and Centurion Battle Tanks. Upon his leaving, he was awarded medals and a citation from the State of Israel for his outstanding contribution and extensive knowledge.

He enjoyed woodworking, making large model ships and airplanes, which were displayed at the New England Air Museum. His aesthetic penchant was writing poetry, one of which was read at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. He had a lifelong passion for cooking and studied numerous times in Paris, France, over the years at the Cordon Bleu Cooking School under the renowned chef Christian George. Many a person benefited from his culinary expertise.

In addition to his family, Charlie had a special place in his heart for the following friends who brought joy into his daily life; Mr. and Mrs. David Bethancort, Mr. and Mrs. Nicola Corsi and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Walsh and family. He was an active and valued member of the First Church of Bethlehem, United Church of Christ.

His funeral service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the First Church of Bethlehem at 21 Main Street South, in Bethlehem, Connecticut. Everyone is asked to kindly meet directly at the church. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Old Middlebury Cemetery on Cemetery Road in Middlebury. Calling hours for Charles will be held Thursday, May 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury.
