Mr. Ira Ellis Goolsby, age 82 of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Goolsby was born July 3, 1925 in Houston County, Texas and was a resident of Houston County all of his lifetime. Mr. Goolsby was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served during World War II. Mr. Goolsby was a member of the Crockett Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. # 1729 and the American Legion Post #134. Mr. Goolsby was retired from Texas Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his son Ronnie Goolsby and wife Laura, of Crockett; daughter Peggy Reeves and husband Bob, of Latexo; grandchildren Kelli Hackler and husband Cole, of Latexo, Traci Goolsby and fiancé Brandon Bain, of Katy, Collin Reeves, of Palestine, Bill Douglas, of Latexo, Lisa Allbright and husband Billy, of Crockett, great-grandchildren Trent Hughes and wife Kayla, James Tory Hughes, Meredith Allbright, all of Crockett and Caroline Hackler, of Latexo; special friend Mrs. Rena Davis, of Crockett; sister Florine Graham, of Latexo; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Goolsby; parents Lawrence and Corine (Turner) Goolsby; brother Wilson Goolsby; and sisters Zelma Platt and Maydelle Bradley
Funeral services for Mr. Ira Ellis Goolsby were held Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephesus Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Ivey officiating. Interment followed in the Milligan Cemetery.
