s/o Charles and Rita (Falkenham) Blakslee.

Starting at a young age he worked at the family farm. Working side by side with his father and uncle Ralph, milking cows and bringing in the hay in the summer with a crew of cousins, driving tractors or stacking the hay. As there were many boys around Shenanigans in the barn were common, walking the beams and building forts and jumping in the hay. Riding "Old Sam" was apparently quite the adventure.

Allen attended schools in Dalton and Whitefield, NH. After graduating from WMRHS he attended Plymouth State University earning a Bachelors degree in Education and a minor in business. During his college years he and several friends formed a singing group calling themselves "The Graftones" a 50's-60's revival group. They enjoyed much popularity for a few years. He went on to be a substitute teacher in many local schools before purchasing the "Top O' the Hill Store" with wife Evelyn and his parents Rita and Charles. After 23 years of the "store" life the business was sold, and Allen embarked on a new career with Cartographic Associates of Littleton NH until his retirement.

All throughout his life Allen had been involved with the Dalton Fire Department in many capacities. First as a volunteer member and training officer, then as Fire Chief instituting and updating training methods as well as helping to bring Fire Fighter 1 courses to the north country. His goal was always to improve and enhance the education and training of the volunteer department. He was always proud of the accomplishments and dedication of the volunteers in the department.

Allen was an avid hunter and fisherman. Each year he looked forward to "DMIP" hunting camp, playing cards and "walking in the woods" with his cousins. But most of all fishing with his grandfather Shorty and Uncle Niles, later imparting his love of fishing with his son Jason. He truly enjoyed his family, Sunday brunch(communion), holidays and summer gatherings at Aunt Ida's camp.

He was a great planner, planning fishing trips to Canada, canoeing on the Connecticut River with friends and camping with family and friends on the Moore Reservoir. As a family, Allen, Evie and Jason traveled to Iceland and then to Sweden visiting the family of one of our Exchange students. Traveling the length of Sweden visiting their families and enjoying the beauty of the country. It was an amazing trip.

Allen leaves his wife, Evelyn, son Jason, wife Amanda and grandchildren Emily, Clara and Sam. He is survived by his sister Charlotte, husband Jack Nelson, brother Peter and wife Dianne
