NOTE: Arthur is incorrectly shown in Lemoore Cem's records as a BROWN, last name of mother Jennie's second husband. After the marriage, Arthur and older sister Clara Etta went by "Brown", but there's no record that they were ever officially adopted by stepfather Edward Emerson Brown.

From The Emporia [KS] Gazette
Monday, January 14, 1914.. Pg. 2. Col. 4:

ACCIDENTALLY KILLED - ARTHUR CUPP, of Lemoore, Calif., was instantly killed by the accidental discharge of a gun while riding in an auto with his cousin JOHN KERBY recently. The gun had been slipped under the lap robe to protect it from the rain which was falling. Young Kerby heard the report and looked quickly around to get a glance from his cousin, who dropped dead. Arthur Cupp was born in the Lena Valley neighborhood and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert [Albert I.] Cupp. He would have been 17 next month. There are many relatives and friends of the family in this community and in the neighborhood of Madison who will offer the sincerest sympathy to the parents and family. The Cupps moved to California several years ago.
