Emily graduated from Manistique High School in 1928, and soon after she moved to Detroit, MI and attended business school. She married Carman Phillips in 1931 and enjoyed a long and loving marriage.
Emily was a lifetime member of the Harland Rebekah Lodge, #395, Berkley, MI. She loved gardening, fishing and color tours in the Upper Peninsula. She even water skied at age 60! She loved to crochet and make sock dolls for all the new babies.
Surviving are her children Keith (Sarah) Phillips, and Robert (Anna) Phillips. 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carman, her parents, two sons Jack and Donald Phillips, and her six siblings.
Visitation will be at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home 2125 Twelve Mile Road (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue) in Berkley from 3-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral is at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township.
